OPI Mariah Carey Liquid Sand Collection

Today I'm going to share swatches of the Mariah Carey Liquid Sand polishes. As was seen in my previous post, these are different because they are textured. They apply easily like a normal polish, but dry textured like concrete. These are pretty cool, a lot more interesting than some of the other textured polishes that I've seen coming out because these aren't plain cremes, they are glittery! Keep reading to see them in their original finish and also with a glossy finish. In lieu of sounded repetitive, I will just say that I used one coat of Gelous topcoat along with another coat of Seche Vite to get a completely flawless glossy nails.

Get Your Number is a pretty blue liquid sand with amazing sparkly chunks of holographic glitter! It kind of looks like OPI Last Friday Night in the bottle, but a lot more pigmented. It's exactly how I was hoping Last Friday Night would look! It's crazy sparkly, which I had a hard time capturing due to the overcast day I decided to swatch these...but it's there! You can especially see it when it's glossy. I used 3 coats to get it fully opaque.

Can't Let Go is a purple jelly with purple glitter of varying sizes, more notably large hex glitter. Not holographic like Get Your Number, this one was still a stunner! And I love how it looks textured. It also contains some bluish shimmer which really adds depth, and comes out more when it is glossy. I used 2 coats for full opacity.

The Impossible is a coral pink jelly version of Get Your Number, with a whole mess of holographic glitter. Because I got the mini, this lacks the large star glitter that is in the full sized bottle. I understand that star glitter is a hit or miss with people, so if you don't like star glitter but like the other aspects of the polish, definitely get the mini bottle! This polish I much preferred in the glossy form, and I am in love with the color. I used 3 coats for the pictures above but I think it covered pretty well in 2 coats, if you're in a hurry.

My favorite from this collection is Stay The Night, which is a black jelly with pinkish-red glitter. I have always found myself disappointed with black jellies mixed with glitter, because the tinted jelly base usually clouds the glitter...but this one is different. This is how I always wish black jellies with glitter would look. I love how it looks in its textured form because it reminds me of asphalt, but with red glitter. In addition, this is just plain mind blowing when it is glossy! Simple but well executed. Finally.

Where to buy
  • I bought my OPI Liquid Sand mini set from an independent beauty supply store, but these should be available in Ulta as well.

I was really looking forward to these, and I'm very pleased with how they look. I'm glad they offered a mini set of these as well, because I really don't need to be buying so much nail polish! Anyways...let me know what your opinion is of these, toodles!

    1. Surprisingly it's not that bad! Velvet nails and caviar feel a lot weirder than these.

  3. I just got Stay The Night as a gift and I can't believe it but I actually like it. I won't be picking up the others since I'm just not that excited about them, but I like your swatches!

    1. Good choice George! I'm glad they offered a mini set of all these because I really didn't need these in a full sized bottle, as nice as they look I probably wouldn't wear it too often.

    1. I know right! Because I hardly wear these types of special effects polishes anyways. Thanks!
